“Winston Churchill’s Most Powerful War Speech”

wpid-wp-1422390420687.jpegAn incredibly powerful speech, however truncated, by the human saviour of England of which most have only heard short quotes.

Don’t miss this historical rallying cry to an almost defeated, proud people.

“Heaven, Is It Your Eternal Home?”

Does Everyone “go to glory”, an old synonym for ‘heaven’. The Bible gives a clear answer.

Only true Followers of Yahshuah, misnamed Jesus by early Roman Catholics, are promised heaven. One will discover 22, Renewed Covenant, Scriptures confirming this guarantee at https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Promise-Of-Heaven.

Regrettably and irreversibly, the Bible makes clear that all “departed souls” whom die “apart from Yahshuah”, are promised only eternal separation, misnamed Hell, from Elohim or YHWH, mistitled God.  The true names, not titles, of Elohim are Yahuah, Yahshuah, plus Ruach Kodesh …The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit… Whom are collectively One in nature.

You will discover an excellent article which  confirms the eternal lostness of those whom die without Yahshuah’s promise of salvation to all at http://y-jesus.com/jesus-say-about-hell/.

The author includes numerous quotes by humankind’s only saviour, Yahshuah.

This article effectively destroys the now popular but unbiblical teaching that everyone goes to heaven regardless of their belief  and trust in Yahshuah nor their obedience of His commands. (John 14:21)

On Intimate Spaces

Archaeology and Material Culture

tlc0070 The contents of Abraham Lincoln’s pockets when he was assassinated at Ford’s Theatre in April, 1865 (Library of Congress).

On April 14, 1865 Abraham Lincoln went to the theatre for the evening, a night that would end in his murder and death the following morning.  Lincoln’s pockets contained a handful of prosaic and idiosyncratic things:  two pairs of eye glasses, a lens polisher, a pocket knife, a watch fob, a handkerchief, and a brown leather wallet containing a Confederate banknote and nine newspaper clippings.   The things in Lincoln’s pockets were perhaps a chance assemblage, like the $62.00 and a plane ticket in Kurt Cobain’s pocket when he died in April, 1994.  Those scatters of things in Lincoln and Cobain’s pockets occupied perhaps the most intimate of all clothing spaces that we generally reserve for our most essential and meaningful things.  We tend to see pockets as harboring a special…

“You Want Me To Do What, Lord?”

God is not difficult or tricky when it comes to giving instructions for their obedience to his servants.

If He wants us to not murder, He says plainly, “Thou shalt not murder.” If He wants one to not build / rebuild something, He tells them clearly …as He told David not to build the temple and let his son Solomon do it. (2 Samuel 7:12-13)

Obviously, God knows that if He wants us to comply with His will, He had better not leave it unclear or subject to dramatically different interpretations. Otherwise, we can have the excuse of “I didn’t understand what you meant, Lord!”

The man Jesus was not only God but He also was the greatest prophet (proclaimer of the will of God) ever to walk the planet before, then, and since.

Why then to do so many Jesus Followers spiritualize, or just write-off, ten whole verses of His absolutely clear and straightforward statements? Does Jesus not clearly say, with absolutely NO qualifications, to NOT use personal violence in any form …on behalf of the state, or even for self- and loved one- defense?

Jesus says it in Matthew 5:38-48, His key “Peace-Making Commands of Total Pacifistic Resistance to All Evil” at http://diigo.com/0kmlr.

When interpreting either the Old or New Covenant, Dr. J. Vernon McGee, taught me what I consider to be the most helpful advice I ever heard about Bible interpretation.

Dr. McGee said:
“When a Bible passage makes common sense, don’t turn it into nonsense by giving it another sense than what it clearly says! ” ~ J. Vernon McGee (1904-1988) U.S. pastor & founder/host of “Thru the Bible” teaching program on worldwide radio

Please let me have your questions and comments below about what you’d add to or disagree with about the above. Also, let me know how else I might be useful to you in any way?

Blessings in Jesus all …’till next we interact!

“When I wish I’d never been born…” – Feb 6

A DEVOTED LIFE

“Why did I not die at birth, come out from the womb and expire? Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breasts, that I should nurse? For then I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept; then I would have been at rest,…” Job 3:11-13

English: It was a 'dark and stormy night' ... ...

A sleepless mind fills with thoughts from visions of the night. The assault of daily troubles awaits the cover of darkness when conscious defenses teeter upon dreams. Thoughts are brought in stealth. Ears receive the whisper of a powerlessness to remedy what tomorrow holds. Trouble weighs the sleepless mind to suffocating depth in the same feathery pillow meant to comfort.

…man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward.  (Job 5:7)

Trapped by troubles, exhaustion breeds dread into a desperate groan for release. Thoughts are conjured in this state of malaise that no stalwart practitioner of manliness will…

Keep Calm and Jazz It Up: On Creative Linguistic Variation

This is a helpful post if you are a “word smith”, or simply enjoy words and how to use them to be creative and persuade better.

Please do not miss the excellent piece linked to Word Jazz’s use of the expression “phrasal verb”.

Word Jazz

ImageIf you’ve been to the UK in the last few years, you won’t have been able to avoid the latest craze sweeping the nation. It’s a craze which seems to manifest itself everywhere: in shop windows, on T-shirts, in adverts – even in language blogs. And it’s one that has at its heart one very simple phrase.

On the eve of World War II, the UK Government displayed posters across the country carrying the very simple plea to ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’. The message – simply stated and boldly written – was clear: to get through the war, the nation couldn’t afford to panic.

After the war was over, the poster had surely had its day. But then, in 2001, some enterprising soul came up with the  idea of printing new copies of it for sale. The rest, as they say, is history.

Since then, the poster…

Christian: Are You ‘Dead As A Doornail’?

“THE FACTS OF THE MATTER”
“A weekly letter of encouragement to business and professional men and women.”

“THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO LIVE OUT THE CHRISTIAN LIFE: GOD’S WAY OR THE HARD WAY”

I am involved with some eager young men who areattempting to follow hard after Christ…in their own strength. Gutting it out with clenched fists. These are highly motivated and disciplined young men who assume that with enough dedication and determination they can win over their sensual desires, their pride, their spiritual failings.

In truth, there is only one person who can live out the Christian life: Jesus Christ. And he desires to do it through us – if we will just let him. St. Paul clearly understood this profound truth:

“ My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me…Overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us…” (Gal. 2:20a; Rom. 8:37b – NLT). (See Jn. 15:4 – 9; Rom. 13:14; Cor. 4:10, 11; Phil. 4:13; Col. 1:17; I Thess. 5:10)

I suspect this a truth that only the Holy Spirit can teach self-directed, self-assured type A’s. In our arrogance, God may allow us to hit the wall to get our attention. Learning to allow Christ to live out his life through us is the difference between shimmying up a greased pole and gliding with the wind like an eagle.

The good news is that God has provided at least five other resources to empower us to live victoriously :

1. The eternal purposes of God that are working in us to conform us into Christ likeness: “… In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son…” (Rom. 8:28, 29b – NLT). (See Phil. 2:12, 13)

2. The indwelling power of the Holy Spirit: “… Because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin…” (Rom. 8:2b – NLT). (See Jn. 6:65; 7:38, 39; Rom. 8:10, 11)

3. The liberating power of God’s word: Jesus: “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free…Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:31b, 32, 36 – NKJV) (See Heb. 4:12, 13).

4. The intercession of Christ and the Holy Spirit for us:”[Christ] is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us…The Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words…” (Rom. 8:34a; 8:26b – NLT). (See Jn. 17:20-24; Rom. 8:27; Heb. 4:15, 16; 1 Jn. 2:1)

5. The armor of God: “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil” (Eph. 6:11). (See 2 Cor. 6:7; 10:3-5; Rom. 13:12; Eph. 6:11-17; 1Thess. 5:8)

This week, may you experience His grace, peace, and protection.
